All I want for Christmas is SOME FOOD!

So all of December I have been looking forward to our WONDERFUL afternoon lunch at the GrovePark Inn in Asheville, NC.. for those of you who haven't been this is what it looks like :

It reminds me alot on the inside of the Biltmore.. They go all out and the decorations are just fabulous!

ANYWAYS we got reservations for our $50.00 a plate Christmas lunch MONTHS ago because they get booked up in the summer.. thats how GREAT the food is there and the atmosphere.. anyways... we made our reservations for 2:00 in the afternoon knowing we would want to do Christmas with our families in the morning and that would give us plenty of time for the 2 1/2 hour drive to Asheville... WELL things changed Christmas morning... NO one ate breakfast because we were saving room for our 50 dollar meal and wanted to eat until we literally popped...so an hour and a half into our drive it starts snowing...

we were all getting excited about how fun it was to be going to the Grove Park and to see snow and all... 30 minute later.... LOTS of snow..
to be accompanied by a telephone call saying they were calling for a freakin BLIZZARD!! I didn't care because I was about to eat the Sonic peppermints I had stashed in the glove box I was so hungry and poor Ryder was about to eat his poor little paci! Its now almost 1:00 and were all STARVING.. we thought it was in our best interest to turn around and leave our reservations and 50 dollar plates of food and fun behind... turning around for what else... FRIED CHICKEN AT A GAS STATION....

We arrived about 45 minutes at this gas station...only it was Christmas and who would eat FRIED CHICKEN FROM A GAS STATION for their Christmas meal??!?! I guess no one because they weren't selling any fried chicken on Christmas... GO FIGURE.. next option at almost 2:00?? Ryans a half hour away.... We pull into Ryans.. parking lot EMPTY... next best thing a Ruby Tuesdays happened to be opened across the street and lets just say they didn't know what hit them.. we had a fabulous meal for half the price we would have paid at the Grove Park.. was the food better? I think we thought so just because when you would eat a handful of peppermints for a meal anything would taste better.. I think everyone bought steaks just knowing that steaks at Ruby Tuesdays wouldn't compare to all the money we would have spent on that good ole' Grove Park food... Here are some pictures from our fun day...by the way we ate around 2:30.. we were STARVING!
