Adoption Update, and a new pet

Adoption Update*** We have our DHEC inspection schedule for Wednesday!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE pray that we pass!! If we don't it isn't a big deal, we just have to make the changes to whatever it is we need to and someone will then come out to make sure we did. BUT it sure would be nice to pass the first time! :)

Ryder found a frog a couple of nights ago and decided he needed to bring it in the house and show me...how thoughtful!

OF course....

Ryder had been breaking out alot all over his face and neck everytime we would go outside and play, especially when we would play in the water... it took me a couple of weeks to realize that Ryder is allergic to sunscreen :( Of course he is!

A Mini Vacation...

I came home one night to water dripping from our NEW ceiling Eric had just fixed (because of our AC unit leaking). Not only was it leaking through the NEW ceiling, but we also had a new leak in our spare bedroom. It wasn't about 30 minutes after I had been home that DHEC called me and told me we were next to get our inspection. He said that we should expect a call that day or in a few days. WHAT A MESS! We called the AC company and they came out and told us we had to get a new unit which would cost around $4000.00. Just what we needed in the middle of all of this mess! SO we packed up Thursday night and headed over to stay with my grandparents because we had to turn our AC off and anyone that knows me KNOWS I DO NOT LIKE TO BE HOT! Ryder had a blast staying with Meme and Pa and enjoyed the change of scenery. I was just dreading that new bill. We decided to call another company just to make sure both of them said the same thing, and that $4000 was a reasonable unit. Well to make a long story short we don't need a new AC Unit THANK THE LORD! We just have to replace a pipe and the man fixed the leak issue! All for about a 5th of the price it would have cost! Here are some pictures from our fun vacation :)

We took a nightly ride on the "tractor"
He LOVED playing in the dirt
I think Pa got a run for his money, he said he couldn't turn around for a second because Ryder was always gone!

This was Ryder climbing up the fence.....
And this was AFTER he grabbed the electric fence :(

Mother's Day!

I didn't get any pictures of us at church on Mother's Day but I did get one picture of Ryder and I in our PJ's Sunday night. I had a great Mother's Day and just enjoyed some shopping and a LONG hot bubble bath in the tub WITH the TV! :) Sometimes being married to the cable guy has its perks!!

Ryderism's

Ryder has just been on a roll with hilarious things he has been saying! He has always been a talker, but lately its just TOO funny and he is coming up with the craziest things!

A couple of weeks ago my mom picked Ryder up and they were driving in the car and she was telling him that they were going to grill hotdogs for dinner, and he said, " Ryder LIKES hotdogs, Mommy likes hotdogs and Eric likes hotdogs" My mom said, "Who is Eric?" and he said, "Oh Eric's at work" haha it was so funny.. he's been on a kick lately about calling us by our first names.. it always makes my heart drop when I hear him say AWEEESHA!!! Because I automatically think someone else is in the house!

The other night Eric and I had put Ryder to bed and we were in the living room watching a movie, and Ryder yelled, "DADDY!!! COME HERE NOW! ITS SEWIOUS!!" Eric went back there while we were both laughing, and then I heard Eric say, "Ryder you called me back here for a booger? and you think THIS is serious?" I couldn't help but just die laughing it was SO funny!

Ryder was acting out in the car the other day, and Eric said, "Ryder you need to calm down!" and he said, "CALM DOWN NO MA'AM!" and Eric said, "Take a chill pill!" and He said, "Ryder NOT like chill pills!" It was so funny

And just now while I was updating my blog, he went into the bathroom and came out and his legs were dripping wet! I said, "Ryder did you have an accident in there??" And he said, "NO MA'AM! Ryder was in the water" and I said, "What do you mean you were in the water?!?!?" and he said, "I was in the toilet"

....Oh the stories I will some day be able to tell...it will make it all worth it right???

A trip to see the "Airpwanes"

Eric and Ryder headed about an hour away with his Sister Krystal and her son Christopher to go visit with their Dad and Heather who were going to be flying their RC airplanes at a big airplane event. Eric said they had soo much fun! I of course had to watch the babies, but next time Eric said were going to stay a few days and camp out! (As long as there are showers that's fine with me! Ha!) Here are some pictures from there day!
Eric said this wasn't a real plane was

They had a yummy hotdog lunch thanks to Grandma Heather

Grandpa Thomas even got him a SPIDERMAN ice cream!

Uncle Anthony and Ryder (they look like they are DONE with pictures!)

A little R & R :)

Eric said Ryder slept the whole way home! I believe it after seeing all the fun pictures of their day!

Another Pinterest DIY

So I found another PINTEREST project I wanted to try, and tonight was the perfect night because Eric was out gigging (I don't quite understand, its like fishing, but in the dark with spears that look like pitchforks??) and Ryder was at Momma Honey's for a few hours. Well the project I found looked like this,...

(The Sunburst/Flower hanging on the wall)

Lets just say I went to 5 different stores looking for a small circle mirror, NO LUCK! I was running out of time and just decided that a cute blue picture frame I found would work just fine and it turned out better than a mirror I think!!

These are the supplies you will need:

I started by making a template, I was able to cut 3 "rays" out of each posterboard... I cut them in half and then shaped them to make them look like a petal or a ray...

Then once I was done cutting them out, I put them underneath the picture frame so I could get a feel for how I wanted it to look... then I turned it over and started hot glueing them to the frame...

It only took about an hour and only $7.36!!!! (Picture frame was 4.99 and each poster board was .59cents)

It turned out ALOT bigger than I was expecting and I'm not quite sold on where it is now, but I think it looks cute, I might move it to my bedroom above our bed.. but then I would have to move the other pinterest project I made recently :(.. of course its not as good as the one I saw on pinterest...but for a fast and cheap project??? I think it worked!!
(PLEASE ignore the messy living room!!!)

Adoption Update!!

I spoke with our DHEC inspector on the phone this afternoon and we are #11 on the list! SO we should be called within about two weeks to schedule our inspection!!! After this, we wait for our fire inspection, which we were told would be no big deal to get, and then wait on the list for an available inspector to do our HOME STUDY! THEN WERE APPROVED (well hopefully! :) ) and we officially WAIT and WAIT and WAIT some more!!!

Worldess Wednesday!

He can FINALLY reach the pedals!!

This past weekend, Ryder got on his tricycle that his aunt Becky got him a year ago. We had taken the part off that lets you push him around and he just started pedaling and took off down the road! He can FINALLY reach the pedals! This made him one happy little boy!!

I ♥ PINTEREST!

Ok so if you have no idea what Pinterest is you need to click the link and sign up! (It's free) I LOVE IT! I decided to make some slimy "gak" for Ryder this morning and he has been playing with it for about an hour now! I'd say it was a success! I got the info from pinterest and it linked me to THIS BLOG. Here is how we made this SUPER fun slimy mess!!

Ingredients:
4oz. of glue (we used Elmer's glue)
4-6oz. of warm water
mix 1 tsp of Borax (this is a toxic cleaning product so use/make this WISELY ie; if your child eats everything probably not a good idea!) + a half a cup of water (mix together and then SLOWLY add to glue)

ALSO- this doesn't have to be EXACT and if you start freaking out because it's really watery once your done, its OK it will start to thicken and then you will be able to play with it! ENJOY! :)

IT was a LOT of fun!!

WERE POTTY TRAINED... well ALMOST :)

We have been "potty training" Ryder FOREVER and we don't have a timeline we have to meet by any means but it would be nice to quit buying pull-ups! Well last Friday it was like something just "clicked" with him... he now goes completely by himself, I never say, "Do you need to go potty?" Or open the bathroom door, or check on him or ANYTHING! He usually says, "Mommy stay RIGHT there, stay there mommy!" Because he wants to do it himself which is A-OK with me! He hasn't been peeing, or pooping at naptime or bedtime and has had the same dry pull-up since Friday night! Well just as I was going to blog about this yesterday and announce he's "potty-trained!", My sister-in-law picked him up to take him to the zoo...well of course I left him in his underwear. I made sure he went before they left and thought no big deal he's done Great!! (btw I have taken him shopping, out to eat and to the YMCA with NO accidents) well she said it wasn't 10 minutes into it that he said, "Manda, I need to go potty" She said she looked down and he had peed all over the floor! Then she said after changing him and going back out he did the same thing!! So needless to say I think I'm going to be buying a few more pullups..but WERE ON TO SOMETHING HERE!! :) .... OH and I need to add, when he got home, I said, "Ryder, did you pee in your pants at the zoo?" And he said, " uh huh" and I said, "Why didn't you tell Amanda you had to go potty?" and he said, "I told Manda and she said, Ryder not go potty" :) He said this over and over how she wouldn't let him go.. I think SOMEONE was trying to get out of trouble... thankfully he has a pretty smart mommy!

Adoption Update**

I met with our caseworker yesterday to drop off some copies of paperwork that they couldn't find. This was my first time getting to talk to her one-on-one and she went over my paperwork with me just to make sure we were "open" on our openness form. The openness form is a 5 page form that lists everything and anything your child could have from a slow learner to mentally retarded.. and you select YES if your willing to accept it, or NO. Not only that but you have to select yes or no if you would let it be in the family's history as well. So needless to say its a LONG form. It took us MANY late nights on google trying to figure out what half of the illness' were and if it made a difference if it was in the family or not as well. She said ours looked great except I had selected to accept fetal alcohol syndrome in a "mild" case and she told me that was really severe and by seeing what else we said no to that we should say no to that. We made a couple other corrections and then she explained what will happen now. She scheduled our DHEC inspection, which doesn't exactly mean its "scheduled" but we ARE on the waiting list.  I will get a letter by the end of the week and then I have to call them all the time reminding them that I am waiting and wait for our names to be at the top of the list. I'm pretty good at nagging so maybe they'll move ours up fast?? :) Just sayin.... Then we will have the fire inspection which she said she could have them come out tomorrow if she needed them to so that's not a big deal, and then our home-study! So we are getting close to the end of our approval process! I think???  For those of you wanting to know how long this is taking?? It's only been 5 weeks since the initial orientation meeting we went to....THATS FAST!
